WINTER - A GREAT TIME TO CARE FOR YOUR TREES
Our winter tree removal and pruning program will begin after
the first of the year. This is an ideal time to have your trees
and shrubs maintained. For example, pruning the larger trees
in perennial gardens at this time makes clean-up easier and less
injurious to herbaceous plants. Typically, the winter ground
will harden, enabling our trucks and equipment to maneuver without
damaging the surface soil. For many trees and shrubs, the winter
dormant season is the best time to prune. Without the presence
of leaves, it is easier to see the branch structure and create
a more attractive shape. Dormant pruning reduces the damage caused
by insects and diseases. Deadwood, without the presence of healthy
buds, is more easily recognized during winter pruning. Pruning
wounds will close over or compartmentalize sooner when the plant
awakens in the spring.

WINTER
BURN PROTECTION
Broadleaf evergreens such as Southern Magnolias, Rhododendrons, Cherrylaurels, Camellias, Boxwoods, Hollies and Cryptomeria will benefit from anti-dessicant treatments. This polymer spray treatment prevents Winter injury caused by wind burn, sun scald and salt spray. Treatment applications are being performed through December.
DEER PROBLEMS?
Are deer eating your landscape investment? We can help. Eliminating densely overgrown overgrown areas on your property will reduce their hiding places. We can apply contact repellents to your shrubbery that will discourage deer from browsing and destroying your plants. Call today to schedule your deer-proofing.
